Informed by our understanding of best practice in conservation techniques, management and interpretation of heritage listed places, we can provide you with high quality conservation architecture advice; adaptive re-use advice, maintenance schedules, condition surveys, work schedules and specification schedules.

The following are examples of recently completed Conservation works projects:

MENTONE RAILWAY STATION

Working with Frontier Heritage and Quatrefoil Consulting, we prepared conservation works documentation to repair and reinstate original heritage features of the State-listed Mentone Railway Station buildings. These conservation works occurred as part of the Balcombe Road Level Crossing Removal Project.

GJM Heritage is now working with Kingston City Council to facilitate potential re-use of the buildings.

FORMER COBURG RAILWAY LINE

GJM Heritage provided heritage advice to the project team as part of Level Crossing Removal works to ensure the survival of the original station buildings, signals, signal boxes and railway gates located along the Victorian Heritage Registered railway line. The station buildings at Coburg and Moreland received a suite of conservation works, including reinstatement of a slate roof, reconstruction of chimneys, new joinery to match the 1897 design, brick and render repairs and repainting in historically accurate colours.

WERRIBEE MANSION GLASSHOUSE

Located in the extensive grounds of the Werribee Park Mansion, the Glasshouse, constructed between 1919-1923, was in a dilapidated state; glazing was broken and the timber rotted. The extensive damage across the structure had necessitated its closure and the exclusion of public access.

GJM Heritage, in collaboration with Purcell Heritage Consultants, was engaged to document and support the implementation of conservation works to the single storey timber and glass structure, enabling it to return to use for plant propagation and occasional public access.
